Dr. Terry L Ziemer, Ph.D.

Dr. Ziemer is the founder of Six Sigma Intelligence, a company dedicated to filling knowledge gaps for companies that are engaged in business improvement efforts utilizing six sigma and related methods. As the former Sr. Vice President for Technology and one of the Principals of the world-renowned Six Sigma Academy, Dr. Ziemer was one of the primary contributors to the now-famous Breakthrough Strategy (and its DMAIC process) pioneered by the Six Sigma Academy. Dr. Ziemer has experience in many aspects of Six Sigma, from deployment planning to project execution. He specializes in the areas of statistical methods and development of enabling software tools.

Dr. Ziemerís background includes a B.S. in Mathematics from the University of Wisconsin at LaCrosse, an M.S. in Statistics from the University of Wyoming, and a Ph.D. in Statistics from the University of Wyoming. Shortly after completing his doctoral degree, Dr. Ziemer joined the Minitab statistical software team as Sr. Statistician in the R&D department. During his tenure at Minitab, he directed development work in the area of industrial statistics, statistical quality methodology, and designed experiments, and authored more than 100 production-quality Minitab macros. His efforts with creating and documenting Minitab macros have positioned Minitab as a rapid development engine for creating custom analysis and reporting solutions.

In 1995, Dr. Ziemer began a collaborative effort between Minitab and the Six Sigma Academy that resulted in the production of the Six Sigma Module for Minitab. The module includes best-in-class process performance analysis tools and a Design for Manufacturability component. Upon completion of this module in 1997, Dr. Ziemer joined the Six Sigma Academy and continued to develop additional software tools that were utilized by many large corporations in their six sigma deployment. Among these were the SSA Navigator, a system designed to bring consistency to curriculum development and delivery, several project tracking systems, and the first true six sigma web portal.
